From humble beginnings, the Falasco Family story is an impressive and inspiring one. Arriving along a well-trodden path from his native Italy in 1939, Octavio Falasco started a wine business in the small town of Chacabuco outside Buenos Aires.

We’re very excited to introduce the latest producer to join the Condor family. We’ve long admired Casarena and their single-minded focus on the important Mendoza sub-region of Lujan de Cuyo so when we got the opportunity to represent them in the UK, we seized it immediately.

We can’t wait to see you all at the Specialist Importers’ Trade Tastings in London and Manchester next week. Give us a heads up if planning to come to either event! If you can’t make it, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us about any of these wines and we’ll be happy to tell you more.

NEW to Condor Wines – Marco Puyo’s Vina DAGAZ – I remember first tasting the Dagaz wines with winemaker Marco Puyo in January 2019 in Santiago. I was writing a guide to Latin American wines with the Cata d’Or Wine Awards competition, of which I was the president.

Maria and I always expected our 10th anniversary year to be something special, but it has really surpassed our expectations. We’re thankful for the continued support of all our customers and producers that has made this such a wonderful journey.

We’re pleased to share that we will be attending the 2022 Wines of Chile Trade Tasting. We hope that you have the date in your diary and we’ll see lots of familiar faces popping by on the day. As you will have seen, our Chilean range has been expanding rapidly this year.

Travelling the 2,600 miles from North to South through Chile is like starting on the surface of the moon and ending up in Tolkien’s Middle Earth. From the world’s driest desert, the Atacama, to the ice-capped rawness of Tierra del Fuego, Chile is truly a country of extremes.

There are certain words that are bandied around all too generously in the wine industry. Words such as: legendary, iconic, pioneering… they have all been so overused that they have become somewhat meaningless and tiresome. Yet sometimes it’s almost impossible not to use them, and this is one of those times.

It’s hugely exciting to be able to say that we’re attending the Specialist Importers’ Trade Tastings in London and Manchester next week. After so long off the road, we really can’t wait to be with you again!

Malbec and Argentina, Argentina and Malbec – they just fit like a glove. The versatility of this grape in transmitting terroir and regionality has given it the huge profile it currently enjoys. Yet its reputation can overshadow the wonderful work being done with other varietals by a passionate new generation of winemakers in Argentina. Now it’s time to introduce these under-the-radar stars to a wider audience.
